Peat provides bins to restaurants for discarding food scraps, to be picked up at the curb, and brought to their local mushroom farming facility. The team then turns your food scraps into fresh mushrooms within a few weeks, which can be supplied back to restaurants as fresh produce.

BKROT organizes a site visit to assess your needs. Bins are provided for a fee, but they also accept any bin that’s designated exclusively for food waste, if the restaurant already has one. Provides signage and training materials for staff. Haulers on bikes pick up waste weekly or biweekly. Services North and Central Brooklyn exclusively.

There are six different service plans to choose from. Businesses are provided 5-gal bins (quantity dependent on volume of organics waste) and follow the “bokashi method” to encourage fermentation of food, and a pickup schedule is organized with GreenFeen. Pickup is done by microhaulers on bikes. Educational opportunities are provided along with multiple modes of communicating if problems or questions arise.

$45 pick-up fee plus $15 per bin up to 5 bins. 20% off any bins over initial 5.

Offers weekly collection of compostable material to small businesses in Manhattan neighborhoods south of 75th Street. Pickups will be on the same day of the week each week, generally between 10 AM - 3 PM. Each week, on the day before your scheduled pickup, you have the option to confirm or skip collection. Services restaurants on a case-by-case basis.
